Monitool was unavailable this morning for roughly two hours, due to two separate issues in sequence:

1. First, the server failed to boot cleanly. During this period, the site was fully unreachable. Our monitoring picked up the outage immediately.
2. Once the server was back up, a second issue surfaced: the database ended up isolated from the rest of the application. The site loaded again, but projects, inputs and failed to display, and background jobs were not being processed.

Resolution

We brought the server back online, then restored the connection between the database and the application and restarted the affected services. Once that was done, Monitool was fully operational again. No data was lost.

What we're doing about it

- Improving our health checks so this kind of post-reboot failure triggers automatic recovery instead of staying stuck.
- Upgrading the underlying storage setup to improve resilience across reboots.
